Game 6--WRIF rocks

This was the first good-weather game of the season, which is bad news for us. Doug went around to all their players in awe of being around people associated with his favorite radio station. Dave buddied up to their pitcher with... was that a hug? So much for hating your opponent and wanting to rip out their guts and grind them into the ground. We started the game with a strike out again, and then things got worse. WRIF scored what seemed to be dozens of runs in the first inning. We played game out, scoring one or two runs each inning. Shockingly, the game was close late in the game. We couldn't get the bats going, though, to sustain a strong inning and ended up losing 12-8. We are now 4-2, but 1-2 in our last 3, due mainly to our lack of scoring. Defense is looking pretty good, though. If only we can start to hit that large yellow ball moving oh so slowly.

I forgot to mention two things:

1. Welcome Alisha! After a year off and without even swinging a bat, Alisha put motherhood aside for the moment (as Stacy took over, with a look in her eye like this might not be all that far away for her) and smacked a solid shot to the outfield in her first at bat.

2. This game was marred by many controversial calls-- a fair foul ball, Dave out at third, Spunky out at first... both Doug and Dave were warned not to say another word to the ump or else...
